RE: refrigerator on propane

When you first try to light it after the tanks have been turned off sometimes there is air in the line. Mine spit and sputters every spring the first time i fire it up. Not telling you not to get it checked out if you want to though you might try it again before you do. Don't think there is much you can hurt as they are pretty fool proof. I have also had an accident with propane and know how you feel, but it wasn't anything to do with an RV.

RE: Trip routing by Good Sam

I have tried several times to use the Good Sam's routing service. It always trys to send me someplace I know I don't want to go. GPS on the other hand has gotten out of a lot of situations. I love my GPS. a

RE: Pressure washing (or not)

I've used the car wash for years, just make sure the bay is tall enough. I saw someone take their air conditioner off once.

RE: Sewer hose support necessary?

I have a hose support thing and have hauled it for thousands of miles. Its still in the box unopened. Good advise about leaving the valve closed on the black tank until its almost full and then dump. I never leave it open.

RE: Goodyear Tires

I just bought a new set of marathons for my 5ver. The tire man recommended going up a size. As in 215 to 225, not the wheel size. He said that would help. Have used same dealer for 20 yrs and trust his advise. If you have a trusted tire man talk to them, they know what works.

RE: Dumb things we do

I left the furnice on after we got back home from a trip. Ran the battery down. Also forgot to put the fuel cap back on the extra tank in the back of the pick-up and sloshed out several gallons in the bed of the truck.

RE: Wheel bearings

Everytime I stop on a trip I feel the center of each wheel where the hub sticks through to see if the bearings are getting warm. If they ever feel warm they get some grease.

RE: Fiver King Pint Collapsed

My pin box broke loose from the frame on my 2003 Cougar 5th wheel. It was all enclosed where the welds broke loose from the frame. I noticed the trim coming loose where the front cap meets the body around the pin box and started watching in the the mirror and could see the pin box moving in and out as I was going down the road. Took the trailer back the the dealer I bought it from and he told me I was crazy that they didn't ever break there. He didn't want to take the body loose and inspect it unless I agreed to pay for it if it wasn't covered (if it wasn't really broke). I told him to do it as it wasn't any good like it was. Turns out it had five welds broke and Cougar paid all the costs to fix it plus the end cap was cracked so they replaced that also. Sorry to be so long winded. Have used it over a year now on several long trips and no problems. But I think it was close call and could have been really serious. I also thought the service man at the dealer should have apologized but he didn't. Took three months to get it all fixed. A
